Good morning, Scottsdale. You’re reading Scottsdale Scoop, your insider pass to what’s fun, fresh, and worth checking out around town. Every issue features hand-picked events, local business spotlights, and hidden gems that make our city great.

I just landed in Vienna, Austria for a few days before I head to Munich for Oktoberfest. Even on vacay I didn’t want to miss an issue!

Let’s dive in.

SCOTTSDALE SNAPSHOT

Il Segreto Opens in North Scottsdale

Il Segreto has opened on the northeast corner of Pima and Pinnacle Peak in North Scottsdale, offering refined Italian dining. The restaurant's open Tuesday through Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m.

It's giving locals a sophisticated new neighborhood spot to check out. This one opened under my radar :0

$70M Lakefront Project Coming to McCormick Ranch

Diversified Partners is investing $70 million into The Lakefront at Scottsdale in McCormick Ranch. Interior demolition and remodeling on the former Forever Corporate Plaza at 7501 E. McCormick Parkway is set to begin September 24.

The sprawling redevelopment covers more than 100,000 square feet and will feature upscale eateries, retail shops, wellness concepts and Class A office space. The first phase includes converting 60,000 square feet of office space into restaurant and retail areas. La La Land Cafe, V Modern Italian, SUSHISAMBA and Frost Gelato have already signed leases, with the first phase expected to finish next fall.

Douglas Family Dentistry Offers Free Care for Veterans

Douglas Family Dentistry is running an amazing program for veterans in observance of Veterans Day. If you're a veteran you can get free dental services to help take care of your smile. You can check their website and call them to schedule a consultation to see what work needs to be done.

I found this and thought it was really cool since I have a lot of veterans in my family. It's a great way to give back to those who served. Figure I'd share in case you know someone who can benefit from it!

TOGETHER WITH CITY OF SCOTTSDALE PARKS & REC

Rock Out at Scottsdale's First Pop Punk Picnic

I'm all in for any event that lets me dust off my old band tees. If you're ready to scream your heart out and relive the glory days, you'll want to check out the Pop Punk Picnic. Scottsdale Parks and Recreation is hosting this first-ever gathering on Friday, October 2nd from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Scottsdale Civic Center.

The vibe is all about nostalgia and live music. Mike Goodrick will be playing all of your favorite pop-punk hits while you check out local food vendors and grab a drink at the cocktail garden. They'll also have photo booths and themed activities to keep the energy high.

It's a completely free and all-ages event with free parking on site. Throw on your most nostalgic outfit and rock out.

LOCAL BUSINESS OF THE WEEK

The Renowned Hound

I was doing some digging and saw The Renowned Hound recently and I love what they're doing for dogs in the Valley. They make handcrafted whole food meals using human-grade ingredients that are free from chemicals and preservatives. You can even check out their selection of delicious meals, jerkies and cookies for your pup.

You can find them at the North Scottsdale Farmer's Market from October through April between 9am and 1pm. They also offer custom nutrition plans for dogs managing chronic conditions like GI disorders and diabetes plus they partner with Adopt a Dog Rescue to support second chances across Arizona. Thought it was so cool and wanted to share!

DATE SPOT OF THE WEEK

Ella on the Park

I stopped into Ella on the Park last week and I've been thinking about the menu ever since. It's tucked inside Hotel Solaya overlooking Scottsdale Civic Center Park (which I think is where their name comes from) and it brings a really nice modern American energy to Old Town.

The atmosphere is quiet with a very attentive staff and a central bar. They've got their own smoker on site and the kitchen leans into a slight southern flair with items like smoked mac and cheese and smoked beef ribs (both amazing). They even feature Bill-E's Bacon from Fairhope, Alabama alongside cured ham selections from Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina. Everything I tried was top notch.

Dinner is the main event right now with weekend brunch debuting in October. Worth a nice chill date night!
