Anhelo Opening in Scottsdale Later This Month

You know that fine dining spot Anhelo that used to be in downtown Phoenix? Funny enough, I took my dad there a year or so ago! Anddd my good friend Lily helped them pick their name (fun fact of the day).

Well, Chef Jacobo is moving the restaurant to in Old Town with this secret garden vibe, adapting the whole concept to fit the Old Town crowd better.

He's keeping all the things that made the original special. Seasonal, hard-to-find ingredients, incredible wine program, and attention to detail, but now with even more focus on creating something unforgettable.

They've got tasting menus if you want the full experience, including this epic 10-course Grand Tasting Menu with a tableside fromage cart.

The new spot opens July 22nd! The address is 7007 E 1st Ave, Scottsdale, AZ, 85251.

North Scottsdale’s New Luxury Condo Development

There's this new luxury condo development called Atavia that just got approval and is breaking ground in August at Loop 101 and Scottsdale Road, and it's already 50% sold during pre-sales which tells you something about the demand.

Chicago-based Belgravia Group is behind it. The same group who did Portico and they're creating 88 units that feel more like single-family homes with private entrances and attached two-car garages.

The floor plans range from 1,570 to 3,015 square feet with all the high-end finishes you'd expect, plus amenities like a clubhouse inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West and a resort-style pool.

It's part of that bigger One Scottsdale masterplan that's going to transform that whole area, with units priced from the mid-$800s to $1.7 million and completion expected in late 2027.

The Brush Bar

The Brush Bar in Old Town is such a fun date spot. It's one of those paint and sip places, but way more relaxed than you'd expect. For $25 you get a canvas, all the supplies, and a drink included, plus they walk you through the whole painting step by step so you don't have to stress about being artistic.

The instructors are really chill and the music is good, so even if you're both terrible at painting, you'll still have fun just hanging out and talking while you create something together. You'll probably laugh at how your paintings turn out, but that's half the fun and you get to take home a little reminder of your date.

Novel Ice Cream

Okay, so I know I typically cover just Scottsdale, but I had to make an exception on the fact that Novel Ice Cream just ranked America’s best ice cream shop on Yelp. Yes, #1 out of the entire U.S. This Downtown Phoenix ice cream shop deserves a shout out so don’t be too upset for the slight detour this week.

They focus on small batch, hand crafted flavors like Honey Lavender and Bourbon Toffee Caramel Crunch. Pictured above is their famous, “Dough Melt” ice cream where you can pick any ice cream and topping and put them inside a raised, glazed donut bun. Then they press it so it’s warm on the outside and still cold on the inside. AMAZING.
