Good morning, Scottsdale. You’re reading Scottsdale Scoop, your insider pass to what’s fun, fresh, and worth checking out around town. Every issue features hand-picked events, local business spotlights, and hidden gems that make our city great.

Fun events and opening coming down the line. I feel like late Sept/early Oct is when all the fun stuff starts taking shape.

Let’s dive in.

SCOTTSDALE SNAPSHOT

Run the Runway Returns to Scottsdale Airport

This one's super cool. Run the Runway is back at Scottsdale Airport on Saturday, October 25th with options for the whole family since it includes a kids fun run. You can take on the full 5K course right on the tarmac or let your little ones tackle the one mile kids dash.

Both races include a shirt, finisher medal and refreshments while supporting great local organizations like Thunderbird Field II Veterans Memorial and Opportunity 4 Kids. Worth putting on your radar if you're looking for a unique morning run!

De Babel Opens Second Scottsdale Location

This is one of my favorite spots for a quick bite in Scottsdale because the food is just insanely good. De Babel has officially opened its second Valley location at The Edge shopping plaza at 8980 N. 90th St.

You'll find all the same made to order halal favorites like gyros and shawarma alongside a new Middle Eastern market on site stocked with fresh cheeses, tahini and specialty goods. My fav sandwich of theres is the Chicken Tawook. This is rated as one of the highest rated restaurants on Yelp in the US, def worth checking out.

Kuza Brings Live Fire Dining to North Scottsdale

I've been following along since Chauncey Social closed and now Kuza is officially taking its spot with a grand opening next Wednesday, September 16th. This is the sixth restaurant from Clive Collective and it brings an energetic live fire concept to North Scottsdale.

Led by Executive Chef Erik Davila, the space centers around an open robata grill and raw bar featuring fish flown in twice weekly from Tokyo. Expect charcoal grilled skewers, seasonal seafood, craft cocktails and an atmosphere designed to evolve as the night goes on. Stoked for this!

TOGETHER WITH CITY OF SCOTTSDALE PARKS & REC

Scottsdale Turns 75 This Year

The City of Scottsdale is throwing a birthday bash for the whole community. Parks & Rec Rewind 75 hits Civic Center on Saturday, September 19 from 6 to 9 PM with live music, a DJ, food trucks and retro throwback fun for all ages.

It's completely free. Just show up and celebrate 75 years of our city with your neighbors.

LOCAL BUSINESS OF THE WEEK

Hook N' Cleaver Market

I recently found out about Hook N' Cleaver Market in North Scottsdale and I'm hooked. This neighborhood market focuses on honest food that is completely free of seed oils.

They stock premium proteins like Meat by Linz and Mary's pasture raised organic chicken alongside wild caught seafood. Their grab and go case features scratch made items like roasted garlic hummus and house made pickles. Check out their chicken salad sandwich made with brined chicken on Noble Bread. They even get weekly raw milk deliveries from Fond Du Lac farms.

DATE SPOT OF THE WEEK

House Rules

If you're looking for a date night with some active competition, House Rules is worth putting on your radar. Formerly known as Lane Park, this spot is set up as a competition bar featuring games from around the world like ice curling, duckpin bowling, axe throwing, sapo and carrom games.

The vibe is lively and rowdy in the best way. You'll be able to book a lane and play while you grab something to eat from their scratch kitchen. They've got a happy hour running Sunday through Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm with 20% off the entire food and drink menu along with an hour of game play.
