SCOTTSDALE SNAPSHOT
Ripley’s Hair Themed Exhibit

Ripley's is opening "Hair Raising: The Unruly World of Strand" at Arizona Boardwalk and it's exactly as weird as it sounds.
There’s going to be a 225-pound ball of human hair from 3,000+ people named "Hoss," actual locks from Elvis and Marilyn Monroe, and pants made entirely from human hair. They've also got Victorian funeral wreaths made from dead people's hair because apparently that was a thing people did for remembrance.
It's the perfect "I can't look away" exhibit that'll give you conversation starters for months, plus it's only here for a limited time with regular Ripley's admission.
Blue Zone Approved Grocery Store

Located at 11291 E Vía Linda #144, Scottsdale, AZ 85259
Remember when I wrote about Scottsdale trying to become a blue zone?
Zata Mediterranean Market on Via Linda just became the first Blue Zones approved grocery store in Arizona. They've done things like eliminating sugar-sweetened drinks from checkout lanes, creating healthy snack checkout options, and highlighting fresh produce with better signage. If you've been looking for a sign to finally try that Mediterranean diet everyone keeps talking about, this might be it. Kudos to them for leading with healthy options for us all.
Local Non-Profit in Need of Help

Family Promise of Greater Phoenix runs a family shelter in South Scottsdale that's literally keeping families alive during our brutal summer months, but they're in crisis mode. Four of their nine AC units have already died in the last six months, and a fifth one is on life support. They can't house as many families when 250 are already on the waiting list.
They need $16,000 to replace the latest broken unit, and figured it might be something our community can rally around. If you want to donate please check out familypromiseaz.org/donate.

DATE SPOT OF THE WEEK
Scottsdale ArtWalk

I got some feedback from you all on highlighting more affordable places and figured I’d share a fun date night that’s completely free!
Scottsdale ArtWalk happens every Thursday from 7PM to 9PM and is a great way to get out of the house and appreciate local artists and gallery owners. You don’t need to sign up or anything, just be in the area of Old Town along Main Street from Scottsdale Rd to Goldwater Blvd.
I actually did a date night here years ago and had a blast. Not only do the galleries stay open late, but a lot of them have wine or snacks to make things a little more lively. I can’t remember the gallery, but one local artist walked us around to all his paintings and described the inspiration for each one and it was so cool! I’m going to have to try to find him to give him a proper shout out because it really made the night special.
Also, even though it’s hot outside it’s not too bad given the galleries have AC and you’re outside maybe 20 seconds between each one. Give it a try!

LOCAL BUSINESS OF THE WEEK
Rancher Hat Bar

I was walking around Old Town last week and this plate caught my eye. The staff was super nice and it had a good vibe to it! Rancher Hat Bar lets you build your own custom hat from over 100 styles. You can then have them burn, brand, and bedazzle it with feathers, charms, and whatever else you want to make it your own.
It's like Build-A-Bear but for cowboy hats. Really cool concept!

THE GOOD LIFE

38300 N 102nd St, Scottsdale, AZ 85262
Featuring last weeks most expensive home sold at a whopping $7.5M. This one actually looks like a resort. I love the architecture! Out of all the homes I’ve highlighted I think this one is my favorite so far.
