Good morning, Scottsdale. You’re reading Scottsdale Scoop, your insider pass to what’s fun, fresh, and worth checking out around town. Every issue features hand-picked events, local business spotlights, and hidden gems that make our city great.

I decided to do a special edition this week on dog-friendly patios in Scottsdale. Our last special edition got so much great feedback, and I got a ton of people asking for a dog-friendly version, so here it is. Hope you like it!

Also, one important thing to note: June Days just launched. Here’s an IG post we made with more info. I’ll likely cover this next week in the newsletter.

THE BEST DOG-FRIENDLY PATIOS IN SCOTTSDALE

Night Owl Pizza & Drinks

Location: 1645 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale

Night Owl is a blended concept of The Little Woody, Ziggy's Magic Pizza Shop, and Stardust Pinbar, serving legit New York-style pizza by the slice alongside smash burgers in a warm, eclectic atmosphere. The real draw beyond the food is the arcade section with classic pinball machines and games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, making it perfect for a casual date night or hangout with friends. They're open late with slices available until close (midnight on weekends), and the full bar has an impressive craft cocktail program. I checked their Facebook page and they posted for National Pet Day calling themselves "one of the most dog-friendly spots in Scottsdale," so your pup is definitely welcome on the patio.

O.H.S.O. Brewery + Distillery

Locations: North Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, and more

O.H.S.O.'s tagline literally says it all: "We are all about good beer, tasty food, our neighbors & their dogs, not necessarily in that order." Dogs aren't just allowed here, they're part of the brand identity, and you'll see pups everywhere on any given day. They brew their own beer on-site and have a solid food menu that goes way beyond typical brewery fare. The North Scottsdale location has a great patio vibe, and I confirmed on BringFido that all locations welcome four-legged friends. This is arguably the most dog-centric brewery in the entire Valley.

Brat Haus

Location: 3622 N Scottsdale Rd, Old Town

Brat Haus brings German beer garden vibes to the heart of Old Town with 28 craft beers on tap and European-inspired eats like house-made brats, burgers, and those giant pretzels with beer cheese that everyone posts about. The open-air patio has games including bag toss, ping pong, darts, and life-sized Jenga, so there's plenty to do while you sip. What I love is they've gone all-in on the dog thing: they host dog birthday parties and have partnered with AZ Husky Rescue for adoption events on the patio. Yelp reviewers rave about it, with one saying "Dog friendly patio...amazing pretzel w/ beer cheese and my dog welcome...old town Scottsdale doesn't get any better!" Great misters keep it cool even when it's hot out. Closed Mondays.

TOGETHER WITH THE PET RESERVE

Wine That Gives Back to Our Furry Friends

Since we're talking pet-friendly patios this week, I had to share The Pet Reserve with you. This Arizona wine brand combines two things many of us love: a geat glass of wine and helping animals in need.

Here's what makes them special: Every bottle you buy helps fund veterinary care, food, and shelter for cats and dogs in our community.

Their lineup has something for everyone. The red is bold with notes of dark chocolate and coffee (furever by your side, as they say). The white is fresh and citrusy with tropical fruit and lemongrass. And their rosé? Fresh strawberries, raspberries, and vanilla cream. All three are crafted to pair well with good company, whether that's two-legged or four.

You can find Pet Reserve Wines at Florencia Pizza Bistro in Ahwatukee with more locations coming soon across the Valley. Next time you're planning a patio hangout with your pup, grab a bottle and sip knowing you're making a real difference for animals who need it most.

THE BEST DOG-FRIENDLY PATIOS IN SCOTTSDALE (CONTINUED)

Thompson 105

Location: North Scottsdale (near McDowell Mountains)

Thompson 105 is a North Scottsdale neighborhood spot featuring a wood-fired rotisserie and grill with Italian-influenced cuisine using locally sourced produce and the freshest meats and seafood. The outdoor dining area has fabulous views of the McDowell Mountains, making it one of the prettier patios in the area for an evening out. They've got a curated wine list, craft cocktails, and a solid happy hour weekdays from 3-6pm. I looked it up on BringFido and the patio is confirmed dog-friendly, plus it popped up in a Facebook group discussion as a go-to recommendation for dining with your dog in Scottsdale.

Goldwater Brewing Co.

Location: Old Town Scottsdale (plus Tempe Crossings, Mesa Longbow)

Goldwater Brewing is a local craft brewery that takes their dog love seriously. They literally brew a beer called "Can I Pet Your Dog?" which you can find on Untappd, and their Instagram post says "Pups and pints every day at Goldwater Brewing Co." The Old Town location has a great outdoor space, and they rotate food trucks so there's always something different to eat. I double-checked on BringFido and dogs are welcome. They also run a Goldrush Run Club if you're into mixing fitness with your beer consumption.

The Vig

Locations: McDowell Mountain, McCormick Ranch (Scottsdale), plus other Valley spots

The Vig was created back in 2006 with one goal: to be the ultimate neighborhood hangout, and they've nailed it across six unique Valley locations. Each spot has its own funky, vibey indoor/outdoor space, and they're open daily for lunch, happy hour, dinner, and weekend brunch. The McDowell Mountain location has a patio that feels like a desert oasis, while McCormick Ranch has more of that neighborhood feel. I found a TikTok video specifically showing "Dog friendly happy hour at The Vig - McCormick Ranch," so bring your pup and grab a seat outside.

Morning Squeeze

Location: Old Town (plus Tempe, Downtown Phoenix)

Morning Squeeze is a groovy breakfast and brunch spot open 7am-2pm daily with killer tunes, a full bar, and classic diner dishes made with a twist. They don't just allow dogs on the patio, they actually have a "Tail Wagger" menu featuring house-made dog biscuits, which is a pretty awesome touch. Their Facebook page shows happy pups enjoying the patio alongside their humans, and I confirmed the dog-friendly policy on BringFido. The Scottsdale location in Old Town is great for Spring Training breakfast with views, and they've been going strong since 2013.

Diego Pops

Location: 4338 N Scottsdale Rd, Old Town

Diego Pops serves modern Mexican inspired by taco and tequila-fueled conversations on the beaches of the Yucatan, set inside a historic Southwestern pottery shop with playful décor. The extended outdoor patio is perfect for people-watching in Old Town while you crush their famous Brussels Sprout Nachos and creative margaritas. Happy Hour runs 7 days a week from 3-6pm with half-off apps, $6 margaritas, and $2 off beers. I've been with my friend when she was fostering a puppy, and they were super dog friendly!

Trevor's Liquor

Locations: S. Scottsdale (McDowell), N. Scottsdale (Mayo), Arcadia, Paradise Valley

Trevor's is way more than a liquor store. It's a premium destination with wood-fired pizza (Dave Portnoy gave it an 8.3!), craft cocktails, cigar lounges, and even golf simulator bays at some locations. Their website FAQ breaks down the dog policy by location: McDowell is the most dog-friendly with pups welcome inside and out except the indoor dining area, and they even host dog adoption events there. Mayo and Paradise Valley allow dogs in the retail area and outdoor patio, while Arcadia is retail-only for pets. Their Instagram shows off their "PatioPups" and the covered outdoor patio at McDowell has oversized games and a chill vibe.

Outrider Rooftop Lounge

Location: 7th floor of Canopy Scottsdale, Old Town

Outrider Rooftop Lounge is a sophisticated rooftop lounge perched seven stories up with 180-degree panoramas of Old Town and unrivaled views of Camelback Mountain. The vibe is laid-back but posh, with fire pits, casual seating, poolside cabanas, and desert-inspired murals that are super photo-worthy. Someone asked on Yelp if the patio is pet-friendly and got a yes, plus their Instagram shows a pup getting a "pup cup shaken, not stirred" which is adorable. There's even a TikTok calling it a "Dog-Friendly Rooftop Lounge." Reservations are available in a 30-day rolling window for 2-hour seatings.

The Montauk

Location: 4360 N Scottsdale Rd, Old Town

The Montauk is a Hamptons-inspired spot where you can "transport yourself to the Hamptons and kick back to live music with a lobster roll in one hand and glass of Rosé in the other." East coast meets West coast with an eclectic menu blending American classics and local favorites, plus a cozy lounge and indoor/outdoor atmosphere. Live music happens daily with acoustic sets and DJ nights on weekends, making it a solid pick for bachelorette parties, birthdays, or just a fun date night. I checked BringFido and the patio is confirmed dog-friendly, so you can bring your best friend along for brunch or happy hour (which runs all day Monday and every day 3-6pm).

Olive & Ivy

Location: 7135 E Camelback Rd, Scottsdale Waterfront

Olive & Ivy is a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant right on the waterfront that offers an escape from the ordinary with sunlit patio lunches, romantic dinners, and happy hours filled with clinking glasses. The vibe is timeless elegance with small plates, bold wines, and craft cocktails. Happy Hour runs Mon-Fri 3-6pm with $10 glasses of wine, $5 beers, and $11 cocktails. I confirmed on BringFido that dogs are welcome on the patio, and Experience Scottsdale lists it among their official dog-friendly dining recommendations. There's even an Instagram reel showing "A dog-friendly Scottsdale day" that features Olive & Ivy.

AZ88

Location: 7353 E Scottsdale Mall, Old Town (near Civic Center Park)

AZ88 is a contemporary bar and local institution for almost 40 years, known for their overflowing martinis, consistent cuisine, and rotating art that changes like the neighboring museums. It's walk-in only with no reservations (first-come, first-served), and they seat parties of 1-8 people max. While you wait for a table, you can grab a drink at the bar, stroll through Scottsdale Civic Center Park, or snap a selfie at the LOVE sign. I checked BringFido and someone asked directly on Yelp if the patio is dog-friendly and got confirmation. Their Instagram even posted: "You know you're at the right place when even the dogs come."
