Good morning, Scottsdale. You’re reading Scottsdale Scoop, your insider pass to what’s fun, fresh, and worth checking out around town. Every issue features hand-picked events, local business spotlights, and hidden gems that make our city great.
Back from a few days in Utah. Had a blast! It’s good to be back home and in my normal routine now. There’s so much cool stuff going on here lately.
Let’s get into it.
SCOTTSDALE SNAPSHOT
First Costco on Tribal Land Approved in Scottsdale

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and Scottsdale-based Mullin 360 announced approval for a new Costco at the Loop 101 and Indian School Road. It's set for 4499 N. Pima Rd. and marks the first Costco on tribal land in the United States. Spanning 21.5 acres, the location features a 162,000 square foot building and about 994 parking stalls.
You'll find an expanded ready-to-eat section with grab-and-go meals like street taco kits, poke bowls and fresh sushi prepared daily by in-store staff. The food court will serve its signature hot dog combo alongside additions like combo calzones and cold brew drinks. CEO Jim Mullin noted that the project highlights the ongoing momentum along the Loop 101 corridor.
Based on a few Instagram accounts, it looks like they've already broken ground on building this but no set date on when it actually opens.
Harry and Izzy's Opens First Location Outside Indiana

Indianapolis-based steakhouse Harry & Izzy's opened its first location outside Indiana on August 26 at 12770 N. Tatum Blvd. It's located within the former Paradise Valley Mall redevelopment site.
The 8,300 square foot restaurant features seating for 340 guests and a sprawling patio with an outdoor bar. Definitely putting this on my radar for a steak dinner soon.
If you’re a Peyton Manning fan, you’d be excited as I was to learn he has a connection to the restaurant. Go Peyton!
Scottsdale Chef Charleen Badman Earns Michelin Honor

Charleen Badman, chef and co-owner of Old Town's acclaimed FnB, was recently named one of Michelin's first-ever Mindful Voices honorees. She earned the recognition for her sustainable gastronomy and vegetable-forward cuisine.
On top of that, FnB retained its prestigious Bib Gourmand distinction. Love seeing local culinary talent get national recognition like this!

LOCAL BUSINESS OF THE WEEK
The Merchantile

I stopped in at The Merchantile the other week and I think they're doing such a good job. They have 2 different shops in Old Town and they represent a ton of local brands with over 100 local artists and makers under one roof.
It feels so neighborhood and community focused. I love that they also have a really good coffee shop inside. They even host hands-on workshops and fun pop-up experiences like hat bars and permanent jewelry. It's worth checking out if you want to support local makers. Shout out to the owners for building such an awesome space.
PS - if anyone knows how to get my hats in there please lmk!
DATE SPOT OF THE WEEK
Puttshack

When I want to get out of the brutal heat without staying home, Puttshack Scottsdale at Scottsdale Quarter is the move. It's entirely indoors which makes it a lifesaver when the weather outside is just too miserable lately.
The best part is that it's active so you keep moving and the energy stays high the whole time. You're playing indoor mini golf with automatic scoring across 9 holes, which takes around thirty to forty-five minutes depending on how busy things get.
There's also a cool little bar inside where you can grab handcrafted cocktails and chef-driven shareable bites before or after your game.
