Good morning, Scottsdale. You’re reading Scottsdale Scoop, your insider pass to what’s fun, fresh, and worth checking out around town. Every issue features hand-picked events, local business spotlights, and hidden gems that make our city great.

I’m teaming up with my good buddy, Shawn and throwing a private dinner for other local business leaders. If you want to learn more here’s the link. Should be a good time!

Outside of that, lots of fun things happening this week. Let’s dive in.

SCOTTSDALE SNAPSHOT

Slide the Rails Returns to Railroad Park

We featured this on Instagram a couple weeks ago and you all loved it, so I had to include it here! Slide the Rails is back at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park this Saturday, August 1 from 9am to 1pm and it's the perfect family event to beat this heat.

They're turning the park into a mini water park with splash zones, a foam pit, and plenty of ways to cool down. Your $10 wristband gets you unlimited access to all the water attractions plus train and carousel rides throughout the event. Kids 2 and under are free!

Outcast Doughnuts Opens Scottsdale Drive-Thru

If you're a fan of Outcast Doughnuts from their downtown Mesa days, great news: they're opening a drive-thru in Scottsdale this Saturday at 2955 Hayden Road (near Hayden and Thomas).

They took over an old Whataburger and spent about a year renovating it. The signature steep roof is still there, now painted black and white with their hot pink doughnut logo. These aren't your average doughnuts either. They make layered croissant-doughnuts with toppings like Nutella and bananas or strawberry shortcake stacked with cream and graham cracker crumble.

Opening day bonus: free doughnut for everyone, and the first 100 customers get a free Outcast T-shirt!

Scottsdale Restaurant Named Best Mediterranean in the Country

They were the only Arizona spot to make the "Top 25 Mediterranean Restaurants Worth the Epic Journey" list. Well worth checking out, everything I’ve had so far has been amazing!

TOGETHER WITH CABANA BOYS HOSPITALITY

Level Up Your Next Party with Pool Service and Craft Cocktails

Planning a pool party, bachelorette weekend, or backyard event that actually feels elevated? Cabana Boys Hospitality has become my go-to recommendation for anyone hosting in Scottsdale.

They've got three brands under one roof, so whatever vibe you're going for, they've got you covered. Cabana Boys brings the pool service with a smile. Drinks delivered poolside, towels handed to you before you even ask, and that resort-level attention that makes your guests feel like they're on vacation. Cabana Girls offers the same top-tier service with a different energy, perfect for bachelorette parties or girls' day pool hangs.

Then there's The Cocktail Crew for when you want a legit mobile bar experience. They show up with everything needed to craft drinks that taste like they came from your favorite spot.

LOCAL BUSINESS OF THE WEEK

Potters' Peak

Potters' Peak is one of those spots that makes you wonder why more places don't combine two great things. Coffee shop in the front, pottery studio in the back. Genius.

Located at 10855 N 116th St in North Scottsdale, they're serving up locally roasted coffee from Press while also offering pottery classes for anyone who wants to get their hands dirty. Their Union Espresso Blend is their signature, roasted right at the edge of dark without going over, so you get that classic coffee flavor with a smooth, creamy finish.

They run classes from 4pm to 8:30pm (hours vary by day), so you can grab a coffee, throw some clay and leave with something you actually made. It's a great date idea, a fun solo activity, or something different to do with friends who are tired of the usual happy hour routine.

DATE SPOT OF THE WEEK

Anhelo

If you haven't heard of Anhelo yet, put it on your radar. This spot used to be downtown but located to Scottsdale a little while ago.

Chef Ivan Jacobo runs the show here, offering tasting menus that feel personal and well thought out. You're not just getting dinner here, you're getting a carefully crafted experience with thoughtful wine pairings that make each course better than the last.

Fair warning: this is a splurge-worthy spot, not your casual Tuesday dinner. But for anniversaries, celebrations, or when you want to make a real statement, Anhelo delivers on every level.
